Dr. Arivazhagan Rajendran, Ph.D.,

JSPS Postdoctoral Researcher

Arivazhagan Rajendran received his Bachelor degree in Chemistry from Government Arts College, Krishnagiri (Periyar University, Salem), India in 2001 and Master degree from University of Madras, Chennai, India in 2003 with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry. After completing his Master degree, he participated in many short-term research training at various institutes such as Tohoku University, Japan, Max Planck Institute, Germany, and Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI, a CSIR Lab), India. During these training he gained knowledge in various experimental and theoretical (DFT and molecular modeling) techniques. Then, he began doctoral research in Bioanalytical Chemistry working with Prof. Norio Teramae, at Department of Chemistry, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. During his doctoral research he worked on the project entitled “Experimental and theoretical investigation on the detection of single nucleotide polymorphisms by hydrogen bond-forming small fluorescent ligands”. After earning his Ph.D. degree in 2008, he joined at Frontier Institute for Biomolecular Engineering Research (FIBER), Konan University, Japan as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and worked there for a year. Finally, he moved to Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), Kyoto University and continuing his research in the field of DNA origami related Nano-Biotechnology. Recently, he has been awarded the JSPS Postdoctoral fellowship.
